The Safer Music Enhancement Fund
The Safer Music Enhancement Fund was established in 2003 as a result of a generous bequest by former FUS member, artist, U. of M. professor, and musician, Louis Safer. “Lou” also created a fund for the visual arts at FUS, and I understand from a brochure for a post-retirement retrospective exhibition at the University, that he also played a Tartini violin concerto with the FUS orchestra in 1957. The purpose of this fund is to support and enhance the Music Program of FUS, with the proceeds being used for purposes such as music rental or purchase, repair or tuning of musical instruments, and fees for special musicians. Recall last December’s Music Sunday (2006) and the magic of the “Harry Potter Suite” with the help of FUS children. That magic was made possible by support from this fund.
This fund can accept gifts or bequests from music lovers. So, you see, you could participate in the process of creating inspiring music at FUS, whether or not you can sing or play an instrument, or wave a baton.
